Future Fusion: Embodying Your Next Level Self
Sometimes, life feels like you’re on autopilot, doing the same things everyday without moving any closer to the life you really want. You know what you want, but you’re not sure how to make it happen. If this resonates, then I’ve got a simple but powerful exercise that I use anytime I’m feeling off track—and it never fails shift my energy, help me focus and brings me back into alignment.

I call it Future Fusion because it’s all about bringing your future self into the present moment, helping you make choices today that align with the life you want to create. This exercise is practical, it’s reflective, and it will show you exactly what needs to shift in your life right now to make your dreams a reality.

My personal experience

I’ve done some form of this exercise anytime I’m feeling off track, and it never fails to get me back into alignment. Even recently, after my ACL and knee reconstruction surgery, my life felt completely thrown off. I found myself scrolling more than I'd like, consuming negativity, and stressing about the little things. It felt like everything was piling up and pulling me further away from my goals.

But I’ve learned that taking time for exercises like this is an investment in myself—and I’m worth it. Every time I do this, it reminds me that I deserve to take the time to realign and refocus. Instead of letting life happen to me, I can choose to shape my future. Visualizing my ideal future self helps me see exactly what I need to change, and it grounds me in knowing that the vision comes first. When I start with the vision, I can trust that it will guide me toward the reality I want to create.

The best part? This process gives me clarity on what needs to shift today. Whether it’s setting boundaries, creating before consuming content, or cutting down on distractions, this exercise always shows me the path forward. It’s a reminder that I have the power to close the gap between where I am and where I want to be, simply by showing up as the person I’m meant to become.

Step-by-Step: The Future Fusion Exercise

Here’s how it works:
  1. Start with Your Current Reality:
    Write down how you currently spend your day. Be super honest with yourself here—no one’s judging. What are your habits? How do you feel during your day? Where do you put your energy?
  2. Get Clear on What You Want:
    Now, write out exactly what you want for your life. What are your goals? Who do you want to be? Don’t hold back—dream big here. Picture yourself as the version of you who has everything you desire.
  3. The AI Hack:
    Once you have those two lists (your current reality and your dream life), head over to ChatGPT (or any writing tool), copy and paste your goals and ask it to "show me a day in the life" of your future self. Type in your desires and see what comes back. This will give you a crystal-clear picture of how you need to start showing up to make that dream a reality.
  4. Reflect and Realign
    Look at the comparison between your current day and your dream day. Reflect and journal on these questions to find what shifts you can begin making:
  • What habits or patterns are holding you back from living as your future self?
    (Think about distractions, fears, or routines that no longer serve you.)
  • What is one thing your future self would say 'no' to that you're currently saying 'yes' to?
    (This could be something draining your time, energy, or resources.)
  • What is one thing your future self would say 'yes' to that you're currently avoiding?
    (Is there an action you’ve been putting off that could move you closer to your goals?)
  • How can you start showing up for your goals today, even in small ways?
    (Identify simple actions you can take now that align with your vision.)
  • What boundaries need to be set to protect your energy and focus?
    (Are there areas of your life where you need to say 'no' to create space for your future self?)
